Brooklyn man shot 3 times while confronting thugs in his music store, survives

Two armed robbers entered Street Flavors, a music shop in East Flatbush, on Wednesday night, and demanded the money from the cash register. The clerk, Earl "Fats" Dunn apparently wasn't in a giving mood and fought back. Dunn, who earned his nickname due to his 250 lb. build, took a bullet in the shoulder and then two more in his arm and cheek during the confrontation.

Dunn was brought to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. Neighbors were surprised by the robbery, since they consider their neighborhood relatively safe. A nearby store owner called the shooting "scary" and unusual. "Around here [crime] is not bad," he said.

Describing him as a "big teddy bear," others were upset to see their friend Dunn injured. "He's the coolest cat I ever knew," said the friend, 31. "I don't see why anyone would even think of doing something like that to him."

It's unclear from the story whether the robbers got away with the money.
