Hostage drama in Brooklyn library
Gerard Joseph was very interested in a female co-worker at the Brooklyn Central Library. He repeatedly begged her for a date, but she wasn't interested.
Finally, she relented, but the data didn't go well. When she refused to go out with him again, Joseph got angry and decided to get back at her. He put a gun to her head and ordered her to take off some of her clothes and lie on the floor of their office. When she refused, he threatened to kill her with either a gun or a knife, but then put the gun to his own head, saying "It's you or me."
He held her hostage for 3 hours, during which time the victim's son called and said he had to be picked up from school.
Eventually, Joseph freed the woman, who reported the incident to police. They found him at his aunt's house with a loaded gun, and charged him with unlawful imprisonment and harassment.
