Murder Scene in East Harlem +

crime scene

Second Ave, East Harlem, 1:15 am. Cop arriving in van: "Well, you called the 85* in."
Cop on post: "Yeah, but only because I saw the guys running."

Lots of plainclothes officers and detectives on the scene, searching through the bushes.

Photo of crime scene, taken about 45 minutes after the incident.

Update (12/12/04): It turns out this is the scene of a murder. From today's NY Post:

An argument in East Harlem led to the stabbing death of a 30-year-old man, police said.

Maverick Brown, 30, got involved in a disagreement with an unidentified man in his 20s just after midnight yesterday while in front of 2056 Second Ave., police said.

The suspect — described as wearing a black do-rag, white T-shirt, blue jeans and black bubble jacket — then pulled out a knife and stabbed Brown in the back.

Brown, of Malcome Road in The Bronx, was taken to Metropolitan Hospital, where he was declared dead at 4:32 a.m. [source]

This was at least the fourth fatal stabbing of the weekend.

[Thanks to Mike for the tip.]
