Last night was Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, and the crowd got frustrated after a few umpires' calls went against the Yankees. In the ninth inning, they began throwing baseballs and other detritus on to the field.

Police and baseball security officials quickly met, and soon enough, police in riot gear (helmets, batons, jackets) emerged, and lined the left and right sides of the field for a half-inning or so until things calmed down.

The sight was familiar to anyone who spent time at the RNC protests.

I took a variety of screenshots of their presence. In one shot, you can see the NYPD Technical Assistance Response Unit (TARU) filing back into the dugout, with their trademark video cameras in hand.

It was remarkable to me how quickly the police deployed. It couldn't have been more than 6 or 7 minutes after things started getting ugly that they all paraded onto the field in their full tactical uniforms.
