86-year-old woman attacks other lady over Bush bumper stickers

Linda Fuda went to to pick up a friend for dinner at a Central Park West apartment building. As she entered, she was confronted by 86-year-old Ruth Spitz, who didn't like the pro-Bush sign and bumper stickers Fuda had entered with. "Get out of here with that trash," Spitz demanded of Fuda. She then grabbed the sign, ripped it, and threw it to the floor.

When Fuda bent over to pick it up, Spitz reportedly whacked her in the backside with her cane and tried to push her out the door.

Spitz admits she was in the lobby, and even admits a shoving match, but denies an assualt with the cane. She also tries out the Bugs Bunny "you wouldn't hit a guy with glasses, would you?" routine: " "I'm 86 years old — I'm sure I'm not capable of hurting anybody," she said.

The cops are following up, but Spitz is unconcerned. "There's nothing I can do about it. I felt she had no business carrying that sign," she said.
