Man murdered on N train, discovered at Rector Street station
A man who had been viciously stabbed staggered off the subway onto the Rector Street platform early yesterday morning and died soon afterwards. The victim, who has not been named, was taking the N to the PATH trains to get home to New Jersey. He had been in Brooklyn watching a band play.
Witnesses report seeing a man flee the train at Cortlandt Street, the stop before Rector. Unfortunately, no one seems to have seen the murder take place. The man's brother says the man was a Mexican immigrant who worked hard to send money to his family in Mexico.
The train was taken out of service and examined for evidence.
The victim, who was not white or female, is not featured on the front page of any of the city's newspapers today, unlike some previous victims of subway violence who suffered less serious injuries. The Daily News assigned one reporter to the story, instead of eight. I wonder what conclusions can be drawn from that.
