Fight over soup leads to killing
Says the Post: "Mario, 21, wanted some of the soup that Jonny, 23, was eating at Woodside Avenue and 78th Street around 10:30 p.m. Friday." Jonny refused, the two fought, and Jonny put Mario in a tight headlock.
This led to the death of Mario, who was left to lie unconscious in the street before dying at the hospital later. "They were apparently good friends for several years," said a cop.
This is a sad but much-needed reminder that adults can kill each other during routine fistfights. You think you can be tough and stand up for yourself, and you probably can, but the fact is that adult humans are rather strong and you can break a neck or fracture a skull before you really realize what you are doing.
It's difficult to accept sometimes, but the world is not a TV show and it's not a schoolyard: people get killed over stupid stuff, in stupid ways.
