Feisty Teen Fights Back Against Elderly Park Rapist
A 16-year-old girl was nearly raped in Riverside Park near 116th Street yesterday afternoon, but she punched her knife-wielding attacker in the chest, knocking him to the ground. The girl ran off, but the attacker stayed put: the police later found him masturbating in the park.
The would-be rapist, a 60-year-old ex-con with a very long history of sexual assaults, once raped a girl in the same park, but apparently didn't learn anything from his 18-year-sentence for that crime.
This story has a great silver lining. It's not always a good idea to fight back against people threatening you with knives, but it looks like this girl evaluated her options and made the right decision.
