More School Trouble

Student stabbed near high school

"A 15-year-old high school student was stabbed in the back during his lunch hour in Manhattan Thursday, hours after two female students were arrested on weapons possession charges outside a Brooklyn high school, police and education officials said."

I used to do all of these Youth Government things in high school. I'd call it "Dork Camp," but I'd be lying if I told you I didn't enjoy it. A bunch of kids from New York State would gather together and write and try to pass bills in a mock state government thing. These Brooklyn kids would always try to pass metal detector laws and us upstate hicks would laugh. I had 19 kids in my public school senior class. We didn't need metal detectors. I'm not saying NYC schools do or don't need them. Just saying I never encountered this kind of stuff. Violence in my school never escalated beyond spit balls.
