I'm a Business Traveler So
I'm a Business Traveler
So I'm <air quotes>away on business</air quotes> in San Francisco this weekend. I use the air quotes because I think it's hilarious. I sound like some middle-aged father of 3 or something. But anyway, let me point out a few scary stories from "The City by the Bay."
- Redwood City man arrested for alleged hammer attack
"As a 29-year-old Redwood City man sits in jail today, the woman that he allegedly beat in the head with a hammer Thursday is teetering between life and death at a local hospital, according to authorities."
A Redwood City Police Department Captain was quoted as saying, "I don't think he is the sharpest tool in the shed." For Christ's sake...
- Blast kills worker at rocket fuel plant
"A construction worker was killed Friday when a South Bay rocket fuel plant was hit by its second explosion in five weeks."
Residents in the neighborhood are understandably a little concerned about the plant's safety record. A company spokesperson replied: "I'd like to tell them there is no risk to them." You'd like to, but what? It's not true? Just say it!
- SF's Version of a Crime Blotter
No details, just dates, rough locations and a standardized description of the crime. This particular area has a lot of cases of "BURGLARY, HOT PROWL, UNLAWFUL ENTRY." I have no idea what that is, but "hot prowl" sounds scary. lar area has a lot of cases of "BURGLARY, HOT PROWL, UNLAWFUL ENTRY." I have no idea what that is, but "hot prowl" sounds scary. UPDATE: Of course there's something that explains what a Hot Prowl is. "A 'Hot Prowl' is a burglary when a subject enters, or attempts to enter your home while someone is home. A hot prowl burglary is dangerous because of the possible confrontation between the subject and victim."
