This is perfect if (when?) someone steals your wallet. The MTA is considering a program to replace lost or stolen $70 metrocards:
"Sources said transit officials are strongly considering giving riders a free, one-per-customer refund or replacement card during a set period of time, probably once a year."
It's the least they could do.
