A heated rivalry explodes in on-field violence
There are some pretty sick people in this city. I'm not much of a baseball fan, but I guess there was some big fight at last night's Staten Island Yankees / Brooklyn Cyclones game.
"In the middle of what most fans described as an otherwise unexciting game, the field exploded in the sixth inning as the Staten Island Yankees battled the Brooklyn Cyclones."
OK, great. It happens. But check out the quotes from the fans.
* "'That was cool,' said Greg Bruno, 16, of Old Bridge, N.J., who was taking in the game with his buddy, Teddy Venezia, also 16. 'I've never seen blood in baseball.'"
* "'They were clean shots, face shots,' said Brooklynite Eddie DeMarche. 'It was really beautiful.'"
* "'Fights should be mandatory,' Ms. Miley said."
* "'This has been a great day,' said Don DeGrazia, who is visiting with family in Queens."
